Nitin Gadkari Announces 11 NH Projects Worth 5722 Crore

Nitin Gadkari Announces 11 NH Projects Worth 5722 Crore : The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, laid the foundation stones of 11 road projects, with a cumulative length of 534 km in Mahakal city of Ujjain. These projects will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹5,722 crore, and will engender the overall development of the Malwa region.

The event was presided over by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and was attended by a host of dignitaries including Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Dr. VK Singh.

Minister of PWD Shri Gopal Bhargava, Minister of MSME Om Prakash Saklecha, Minister of Higher Education Mohan Yadav, former Speaker of Lok Sabha Smt Sumitra Mahajan, Ujjain MP Anil Firojiya, Mandsaur MP Sudhir Gupta among other dignitaries.

Congratulating CM Chouhan on the development works undertaken during his regime,  Gadkari said, “Shivraj Singh Chouhan has transformed Madhya Pradesh from a BIMARU state to one of the most developed and prosperous states of India.

Today, Madhya Pradesh government has delivered a strong road transport infrastructure, and is on its way to delivering the new highway, which will considerably reduce travel time and distance between Delhi and Mumbai, providing numerous investment opportunities.

I am sure that in the next five years, the road infrastructure in MP will be akin to that of the USA. The state government is constructing three new green highways, and is speedily delivering the Delhi Mumbai highway, which will be dedicated to the nation in December this year.”

He also informed about numerous other infrastructure efforts being undertaken in the state by the Madhya Pradesh Government, under CM Chouhan’s able leadership, and congratulated on the green signal received by the MP Government on the Ken-Betwa River Link Project in December 2021.

Thanking the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Gadkari, Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan said, “I want to express my gratitude to Gadkari ji for ushering in an all-round development of the Malwa region, specifically in Ujjain.

We have been able to successfully implement these infrastructure projects because of his generous support and guidance. This has helped us keep the wheel of development moving and, till now, deliver roads with a combined length of 3,00,000 kilometres.”

In order to create a smooth flow of devotees from the Ujjain Railway station to the Mahakaleshwar Temple, CM Chouhan sought an approval from Gadkari to operate a cable car facility. CM Chouhan informed him of the need for 456 crore to repair the road infrastructure in 56 cities.

He also informed Gadkari of the efforts being taken to pave the way for Atmanirbhar Madhya Pradesh and requested for the approval of the Narmada Pragati Path project, which will connect Western and Eastern parts of the state.

The 11 road projects that were announced today comprise the Ujjain-Dewas four-lane widening project costing 842 crore, Ujjain-Jhalawar two-lane paved shoulder project costing 498 crore, Ujjain-Badnawar four-lane widening project costing 1352 crore, Jirapur-Susner (up to MP state border) two-lane road with paved shoulder project costing 240 crore.

Chandesari to Khedakhajuria (Ujjain-Garoth-I) four-lane road project costing 910 crore, Khedakhjuria to Suhagadi (Ujjain-Garoth-II) four-lane road project costing 876 crores, Suhagadi to Baradia Amra (Ujjain-Garoth-III) four-lane road project costing  823 crores, Javsiapanth to Fatehabad-Chandravatiganj road project costing  42 crores, Bahi-Balaguda-Ambav-Kanghatti-Ugran road road project costing 26 crores.

Barotha-Semalya Chow road project costing 36 crores and the BhadwamataSarwaniya Maharaj – Javad – Athana – Dhani – Saroda – Chadhaul road project costing 77 crore.
These projects are expected to benefit the entire Malwa-Nimar region, providing easy and safe transport for pilgrims and tourists, in turn saving time and fuel costs as well.

It will also provide increased employment opportunities with the development of the Ujjain-Dewas Industrial Corridor. It will also encourage the development of the border areas as storage centres.

Announcing the special efforts being taken to celebrate the auspicious day of Mahashivratri on March 1, CM Chouhan said, “On the occasion of Mahashivratri, we will light 21 lakh lamps in the city of Ujjain. Out of these, 13 lakh lamps will be lit at ghats, while 5 lakh lamps will be lit in homes. We will spend another ₹750 crore to adorn the city of Ujjain for this festival.”
