He also assured of extending the benefit of the PMAY soon even to those beneficiaries who have not received it as yet.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the construction of new houses is carried out by the beneficiaries as part of the Beneficiary-Led Construction, against which the government provides a corpus of ₹2,50,000, out of which the state provides ₹1 lakh to the eligible beneficiaries.
The scheme has been designed in a way that ensures that the woman of the house is empowered. Therefore, the ownership of the house is registered in the name of the woman of the house. Also, PMAY is converged with other schemes to ensure houses have facilities like a working toilet, Saubhagya Yojana electricity connection, Ujjwala Yojana LPG connection, access to drinking water among others.
